Silver Valley Brewing- Just what Maple Ridge Needs
Cozy, quaint, rustic and friendly- just a few of the words that came to mind as I sat with Owner Brandi of the new Silver Valley Brewing on 224th in Maple Ridge. Seats filled at the chime of 2pm on the Wednesday I was there.
This place is WAY MORE than a little funky brewery with a roster of full and tasty craft beers. This is a place where you want to make your main meeting point this comfy Christmas Season and months to come.
Maple Ridge Locals (and at one time MRSS Ramblers themselves) Brandi & Kevin wanted to bring together the community that’s evolved in more ways the one by keeping everything LOCAL- MEANING SUPPORT LOCAL, CREATE LOCAL BUZZ AND bring back the good old Roots of Maple Ridge. Since we really are a great community.
From meats of meridian meats, salmon jerky from Bruce’s market, hops from Chilliwack Hop Farms, pickles , cheese, and preserves we get at Cheesecrafters, wine from Chaberton in Langley, their cider from Sunday Cider in Vancouver, Tea from T’s Once Upon A Leaf just a few doors down from SVBC, and even their chips are from Hardbite-as seen on Dragons Den. And make sure to check out their comfy clothing line from Get Bold in Vancouver.
They even feature local breweries on their guest tap. They’ve had Maple Meadows and Ridge Brewing and will have Foamers Folly on tap now!
Looking for something different? Brandi shared with me her outlook- “I think that we are very real people who love to have fun and aren’t afraid to show our vulnerabilities and ask for help when we need it. We want to create a meeting place for local people and having events is something I really enjoy organizing and putting on. Part of our business model was to create a lounge that was both tasting room with a touch of coffee shop vibe for people to come hang out. We also want to support the local community, especially local businesses in any way we can. We will be having a candle making party with the owner of Kleem hosting, we have and will do yoga nights where there will be money donated to local charities, and have other local businesses in mind for other events. “
Owner, Kevin specializes in English style beers so he’ll always recommend something along those lines. Currently a lot of people really favor The Lion: ESB. It’s a very tasty easily approachable English Style Pale Ale. You can also check out our Devil’s Engine: English IPA. There’s still plenty of hop bite, but it’s more balanced then your typical west coast IPA. There’s plenty of variety available though, and he’s always experimenting with new and different beers from a range of different styles with something new being introduced almost every week.
And let’s not forget the tasty paninis, cheese and charcuterie boards, and tiny toast adding an element of comfort. LOVE IT!
So if you haven’t had a chance to get in and try SVBC, make sure to grab the awesome Christmas Pack for only $45! Includes an empty 64oz growler, a toque, and a $15 gift card to cover the cost of a fill. The perfect gift for the holiday!
